ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - Several northland area mayors, including Don Ness from Duluth and Cloquet's Bruce Ahlgren, are part of a Tax Reform Advisory Group for Local Government AId that was created by Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton.  The group of 15 mayors will review and discuss policy issues related to Local Government Aid, specifically on how best to pay for local services while holding property taxes down.  The work of the advisory panel will directly support a comprehensive tax reform proposal that Governor Dayton will present to the 2013 legislature.  The amount of LGA distributed to Minnesota cities is about half of what is was ten years ago which has forced local governments to reduce budgets and increase local property taxes.
