Most people have had only good things to say about the new restrictions that limits the number of times the Aerial Bridge lifts for smaller vessels. Aerial Bridge Supervisor, Ryan Beamer, says limiting lifts to just two an hour has reduced the number of lifts made by the bridge from mid May to the end of August by 1100 this year from the same period in 2009. Beamer says it has reduced wear and tear on the bridge and helped to relieve the traffic congestion going to and from Park Point. The city will meet with the Coast Guard and other interested parties next month to decide on a course of action for next year. The bridge still raises on-demand for larger ships.
