(Falcon Heights, MN)  --  The State Fair is under way and hopes are high that fair weather will smile on the Great Minnesota Get-Together over its 12-day run.  It hasn't always worked that way, as in 1977 when nine-and-a-half inches of rain swamped the fairgrounds -- four inches of that on the evening of August 30th, cancelling the Grandstand show and flooding fair ground streets.  State climatologist Pete Boulay says the driest Minnesota State Fair on record was in 2003 when only two-hundredths of an inch of rain fell during the Fair's entire run.
